Olcott Beach and Newfane have some of the best freshwater fishing in the state. Our fishery boasts salmon, steelhead, northern pike, large and smallmouth bass, along with perch and other varieties of panfish. Fishing is hot all year round. You can fish from the Federal Piers which extend into Lake Ontario, our Town-Owned Harbor 5834 West Main St, or hook up with one of our world-class charter captains. Don’t forget, the NYS record steelhead trout was caught from our waters. Upstream, Fisherman’s Park at Burt Dam is another access point to our wonderful fishery. Thousands of anglers visit here each year, especially during the fall salmon and trout run. Fisherman’s Park also provides a great place to enjoy the scenic walkway along an 18-mile Creek while viewing many different varieties of bird species.
